I have lost count of the number of times I have been asked to recommend a piece of software to clients so I have decided to publish a downloads page with links to the software I think would help you or your business.
Microsoft Security Essentials is a fantastic piece of antivirus software for a home system. It scans and updates automatically and runs happily in the background sipping system resources (unlike better known products). Even if it wasn’t free I would still recommend it.
Libreoffice Productivity Suite
Think Microsoft Office without the price tag and you will not go far wrong. Libreoffice is a very powerful productivity suite which IS FULLY COMPATIBLE with all Microsoft formats. It is also free!! This is a fantastic piece of software.
Are you looking to access your data from anywhere at anytime or maybe just want to backup your data off site with minimal fuss? If the answer is yes then you need Dropbox. Very easy to setup and configure Dropbox allows you to share and access your files from anywhere on any device while being fully secure. I use this for my own files and can not recommend it high enough.
Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2013
Antivirus in a business environment is essential and at the moment you can’t beat Bitdefender. It is feature rich and works on all versions of Windows from XP upwards and along with its superb virus detection rates gets my vote everytime.
For me Google Chrome offers the best and fastest web experience you can get. In my opinion the user experience is much better than either Firefox or Internet Explorer and it is faster than both.
Syncback is a wonderful free backup tool for Windows. Fully featured and very easy to use and is a must if you want reliable backups from your system to another.
