How to set up an unattended remote session using Teamviewer


Today we are going to take a look at setting up an unattended remote session with a Windows Server 2008 R2 server using Teamviewer.  This is very handy when you need to administer a server but there is no one on site to give you access.  This method works on ANY system not just Windows Server but this is the scenario where you might use it the most.

For the purpose of this tutorial I will be using Teamviewer 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 and making a remote connection from a Linux Mint 12 system.  I will also assume you have already installed Teamviewer 7 onto your Windows Server 2008 R2 system.

On your Windows Server 2008 R2 system open up Teamviewer.  Write down the ID (you will need this later) and then click on Extras – Options.

Go to Security and choose a password for unattended access.  Once entered click Ok.

Now we shall open up teamviewer on the Linux Mint 12 system and add a computer account as shown below.

Type in the Windows Server 2008 R2 Teamviewer ID you wrote down earlier along with the password for unattended access.  Also choose an Alias which identifies the system. When you have finished click ok.

You will now see the new account added to your computers in Teamviewer as shown below.

To access this computer double click it.  That’s it!!
