Today I will show you how to set up a VPN Server using Untangle Gateway. Untangle Gateway is a dedicated hardware firewall which can be configured in a multitude of ways one of those being as a VPN server.
For the basis of this tutorial I will assume you already have Untangle Gateway installed and configured with the default rack. If not this tutorial will show you how.
On the default rack shown above scroll down until you come to OpenVPN and click on settings.
On the following screen you will get the option of setting Untangle Gateway as either a VPN server or a VPN client. Click on VPN server. This opens up the wizard. Click next.
To complete the VPN setup you have to configure 2 steps. Step 1 is your organisation details as shown below. Once you have entered the required details click next.
Step 2 is to configure a list of hosts or networks that your VPN users will have access to. Your internal network is added by default. If you wish your users to be restricted to certain servers or workstations this is where you configure it. For the purpose of this tutorial I will leave this as my internal network.
Once you are happy with the configuration click next. You will then get the finished screen.
That is your VPN server configured. We now have to add remote clients. Untangle Gateway also gives you the option of adding remote networks instead of individual clients. For the purpose of this tutorial I will add a remote client.
Close down the page to get back to the main page and click on the Clients tab.
On the next page click Add. This is where you enter the details of the remote client. My remote client will be called XP1 and I shall leave the Address pool as default.
Once configured click Done. You will now see that XP1 has been added to the remote client list.
Now click Apply and when applied click ok. Your server is now set up and XP1 should be able to access your network.
